This was the U.S. House of Representatives vote in favor of outlawing genetic discrimination. The one person who did not agree was Ron Paul. This is a good bill to pass, there shouldnt be any discrimination whatsoever but dicriminating based on genes, thats what you inherit from your family and is uncontrollable. This is a very good step in making America more equal.
Thats dumb to discriminate people based on their genes im glad that this is being resolved and is about ready to be signed by the president.

Long view
Israel celebrates its 60th birthday. The country was what the Nazis had left and was expected to carry on what they had left off. The country is very divided many groups tend not to get along. Israel has to worry about threats from neighboring enemies such as Iran, Palestinians, Lebanon, and Gaza. Seems like it will take quite a few more years than 60 to bring everyone together enough to tolerate one another and get along.
Why the world cant afford food
The world is in a food crisis and the food that is available comes with an added cost. This is because of several factors. Those are poor harvests and restrictive trade policies, increasing oil prices, diversion of crops into biofuels, and increasing demand of food especially in china and India. Prices are expected to stay high untill at least next year. As of March food global food prices are at a high worldwide.
Burma
Burma is a struggling country and was recently hit with a cyclone and and killed thousands of people. Burma's military is not helping their cause much after gunning down several dozens of monk demonstrators and reacting to the crisis of the cyclone slowly. President Bush granted $3.25 million dollars in emergency aid to Burma. The cyclones happened May 2nd and 3rd.

Vladimir Putin-Most Influential Person
Time magazine has recently just issued out the 100 most influential in the world as of right now. They are not ranked dissapointingly. If i were asked who would i consider the most influential out of the 100, it would be Vladimir Putin. This man has done wonders for his country "Russia". He has built a struggling country into a top power and is now being recognized as a threat among others as well as targeting the younger generation with a Putin camp. He is no longer the President but the Prime Minister of Russia now. Although he is not literally the leader anymore he still is who running the show over there and has caught the attention of many. My second and third choice would be Hu Jintao, and the Dalai Lama.
Gem of an Idea
Botswana is one of two countries in Africa to rise out of poverty and reach the middle class income status. This is because the diamond threshold they bear. Botswana has teamed up with De Beers in a partnership. Botswana believes in business and helping themselves rather than federal aid helping. This is because Botswana were able to carry its 1.9 million population out of poverty and into a more stable life, and all due to the diamonds and not giving in to aid and letting others chime in. The theory is that countries with natural wealth will grow more slowly than countries without natural wealth. Botswana avoided being another victim of this.

Rules of Disengagement
This is about antiterrorism act. The deal is for companies to go terror free or for the most part quit dealing with terrorist countries. Many support this and believe it will prosper just as going green did. America has not funded into terror-free investing and this is in hope to change that. This is a way for Americans to fight terrorism in a non-violent way and maybe even make a profit from it.
Show Us Our Money
Lets say in the workplace you are unknown to what your coworkers make compared to yourself. Would that bother you? Studies have shown that people want to know what they make compared to their coworkers. Lilly Ledbetter worked at Goodyear tire and worked up to a higher position with a couple of other male colleagues with the same tenure. She soon came onto that she mad significantlly less than her male coworkers. She then sued Goodyear for pay discrimination and it went to the supreme court. The court ruled in favor of Goodyear because that you have to sue within 180 days of the dicriminatory paycheck, and she missed the mark by about 20 years. She ended up getting stuck with a $3,165 bill from Goodyear for court cost. Lilly is now fighting for the law to be changed but no luck has came yet. Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton are for the amendment and John McCain is against it.
When Will They Be Ready
These is meaning when will the Iraqi troops be ready to hold their own, instead of having U.S. as a crutch. The U.S. has now been training the Iraqi forces for 5 years now and has spent over 20.4 billion on traing the Iraqi soldiers. Petraeus plans on withdrawing the last of the "surge" by July and return to the 130,000 troop mark. Many feel as if it will take years to get Iraq at a fully functioning military. The Iraq military is experiencing several problems with training these soldiers. One is that Iraqi soldiers do very little preparation in the training and need a more lengthy and stronger training. Second Iraqi troops lack motivation due to the relatively low salary they recieve. Third most of the military troops they are training are from the militia they are fighting and therefore there is the problem that the soldiers wont stay honest.

The Color of Loyalty
African Americans have long been perceived as unpatriotic. This is mainly due because they point out the imperfections of the U.S. Blacks have been apart of every war since the civil war. How is that unpatriotic? Shouldn't black leaders be more willing to point out the differences though. Afterall they wasn't treated the fairest and was working to gain freedom and fair rights.
Why China's Mad
Beijing is the city hosting the olympics this year. China is very honored to have this being done and are very angry that there are other countries that are protesting that they should not host the games. China is taking this very personal because they are among the worlds leading super powers. They feel these protests is a stab in the back and appauled at others that protest the games in Beijing.
The only reason I would be on the protesters side is because of the horrible pollution. The games should be held where the athletes competing are in no physical danger and can perform at their best.

Polygamists in Texas
On April 3, 2008 authorities raided a ranch in Eldorado, Texas. The authorities recieved the call stating a polygamists was going outside their already wacky nutshell. The polygamists were believed to be marrying young girls and and forcing them to have children. The law states that one can only marry one person at a time. The polygamists in Texas had their children taken away from them and are in foster homes for now. The controversary is over whether should the court throw all the polygamists in jail for breaking the law and seperate their children from them.
Well considering the law is being broken here, the cult should be punished and the children should be sheltered from that kind of lifestyle. Our government has laws and they are meant to be followed, if everyone just wanted to do their own thing this world would be a mess and in ruins.

Act Now or Eat Later
The world leaders failed to come up with a plan in the past about the hunger crisis in the poorer nations and economies. And now we have a global food crisis on out hands and a rough road to travel to make things right again. Some main causes for the hunger crisis is the use of crops for fuel. Countries unable to maintain a safe harvest and inability to buy decent seeds and fertilizers. Climate change as played a big role too. The good news is that this is able to be resolved but fast and globally.

Canada wants out
Canada has recently stated they have no grudge with Afghanistan and feel they are increasing their risk of becoming a target for the terroists. Canada has given 82 lifes to the cause and have a high fatality rate compared to the U.S. Canada has agreed to stay and fight untill 2011 and requested that their troops would be concentrated on training Afghan soldiers instead of the battlefield and the forces be reinforced with 1,000 troops elsewhere. Canada currently has 2,500 troops on the ground.
C-sections
Caesareans are on the rise since 1990's and are becoming more and more of a desired way of childbirth. 31.1 percent of all babies born are by c-sections. Their is no clear cut reason for the rise but some believe that it is safer or that it may just be a new norm.
Going Green ?
The big talk is over going green. All 3 presidential canidates have stated they support going green and want to make it a major issue. Going green would actually bring in money and jobs. So why are we not already on the bandwagon?
Oroqen
The Oroqen are a minority in their own land and slowly their way of life and heritage is being depleted. The Oroqen believe in hunting as their way of life and the government is putting their foot in the door and not allowing the Oroqen to keep their lifestyle.
This is wrong in several reasons. The Oroqen's lifestyle is not affecting no one and is not violating any laws untill the government made a problem with them. It's wrong to deprive people of their way of life especially if they are causing no harm, now it be a different story if it was a group of people with deviant life styles.

War in the Middle East
Do you believe the war in the Middle East is worth it? I don't there will always be terrorist out in some corner of the world. We should forget about taking the war overseas and the hope for a peaceful Middle East which is only a fairy tale and should be more realistic. The U.S. needs to tighten down on national security and invest more on homeland defense and protect this country without taking the fight to them.
Global Problems
Our generation's problem is that we can spend into the trillions for the war in the Middle East, but we wont spend only 1% of 60 trillion the world's economy produces each year on making the world fit to live in 100 yrs from now.

Maria working as a security officer at Buenes Aires Airport stumbled upon 3/4 of a million dollars in a briefcase that failed to make it out of the baggage scanner in Argentina. In Argentina you are allowed taking no more than 10,000 dollars into the country and Maria received the money. She always wanted breast enlargement and soon found her way on the cover of Playboy in February and now wants to pursue acting.
St. Patricks Day In China
Beijing had a St. Patrick's Day parade for the first time this year. My question is why? Its not like their is many Irish Asian people. Well maybe they celebrate it the reason America does.Just gives them an excuse to hit the bottle.
